Kannada actors Harshika Poonacha and her husband Bhuvann Ponnanna were reportedly attacked by a mob in Bengaluru for speaking in Kannada. As per Harshika, the miscreants harassed the couple and also tried to rob them. She shared her incident on her social media handle and asked "How safe are they in Bangalore?" A storm hit the United Arab Emirates and Oman this week bringing record rainfall that flooded highways, inundated houses, grid-locked traffic and trapped people in their homes. At least 20 people were reported to have died in the deluge in Oman while another person was said to have died in floods in the UAE that closed government offices and schools for days. The storm had initially hit Oman on April 14 before it pounded the UAE on April 16, knocking out power and causing huge disruptions to flights as runways were turned into rivers. In the UAE, a record 254 millimetres (10 inches) of rainfall was recorded in Al Ain, a city bordering Oman. It was the largest ever in 24 hours since records started in 1949.

A horrific bus accident took place in Haryana’s Mahendragarh on April 11 sending shockwaves across India. At least 5 students were killed and 15 were rendered injured after a private school bus overturned in the Kanina town. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital following the horrific road tragedy. As per police, the driver was driving the bus under the influence of alcohol. One of the parents and other locals also claimed that the driver was drunk while driving. One of the relatives of deceased child said the school administration was made aware of the drinking habit of the driver. On the other hand, another relative of deceased child raised questions on Govt and School administration. Expressing grief, PM Modi said that “state govt is engaged in providing all possible help to victims and their families”. Haryana CM Nayab Saini expressed grief over the incident and assured stringent action on the guilty. However, the question of the school being operational on a festival day (Eid) sparked a political row. Former Deputy CM of Haryana Dushyant Chautala raised questions and targeted Haryana Govt and administration.
