The Allahabad High Court approved the survey of the Shahi Idgah Masjid in the Krishna Janmabhoomi case on December 14. Vishnu Shankar Jain, the lawyer for the Hindu side while speaking to ANI said that this is a landmark judgement. He further added that to know the actual position, an advocate commissioner is required. Vishnu Shankar Jain, the lawyer for the Hindu side, said, "Allahabad HC has allowed our application where we had demanded a survey of Shahi Idgah Masjid by the advocate commissioner. The modalities will be decided on December 18. The court has rejected the arguments of Shahi Idgah Masjid. My demand was that in Shahi Idgah Masjid, there are a lot of signs and symbols of the Hindu temple, and to know the actual position, an advocate commissioner is required. It's a landmark judgement by the court."

The Allahabad high court on Thursday ruled that the ASI survey on the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi will continue. The Muslim side's plea that the survey may damage the structure has been dismissed by the high court. Prayagraj MP-MLA Court sentenced mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed to life imprisonment. Court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on gangster Atiq Ahmed in 2007 Umesh Pal kidnapping case. The Court convicted Atiq Ahmed, and prime accused Dinesh Pasi and Khan Saulat Hanif in the case. However, Umesh Pal’s family members demanded the death sentence for Atiq Ahmed. Meanwhile, Atiq’s brother Ashraf Ahmed and seven others were acquitted by the Prayagraj Court. Umesh Pal, the prime witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was murdered on Feb 24.
