Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse: Rescue operations at the Uttarkashi tunnel collapse site entered Day 13, with trapped workers deemed safe and in good spirits. The mission is already in its final stage with merely a few metres separating rescuers and trapped workers. The former advisor to PMO informed that there will likely be no metallic obstruction for the next 5 meters. The rescue team is also hoping that stranded workers will be rescued successfully by the evening of November 23. Union Minister General VK Singh (Retd) reached the operation site to take stock of the situation. 41 labourers have been trapped inside the Uttarkashi Silkyara Tunnel since November 12. The rescue operations at the Uttarkashi tunnel collapse site have entered day 7. However, there are no signs of relief for the trapped workers, as the rescue operation is still at a halt. Meanwhile, Mangesh Ghildiyal, Deputy Secretary, arrived at the incident spot on November 18. Ghildiyal took stock of the rescue operations and the machinery used for carrying out the operations. Chris Cooper, an Australian mining expert, also reached the incident site to assist the team. Efforts are in full swing as the rescue operation at the Uttarkashi Tunnel collapse site entered Day 6 on November 17. Rescue teams and agencies have intensified their bid to rescue the 40 trapped workers at the earliest. Heavy auger drilling machines are in action to save the workers. The tunnel between Silkyara and Dandalgaon on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri national highway collapsed in the early hours of November 12. In an unfortunate incident, a portion of the building collapsed in the Rajawadi Colony of Ghatkopar (East). Some residents were stranded in the building. Police and fire brigade rushed to the spot trying to pull out the people trapped in the debris due to the Ghatkopar building collapse. No injuries have been reported as of now. A 10-year-old ground-plus-three-storey building collapsed in a heap around 1pm on Saturday in Vardhman Compound in Valpada village in rural parts of Bhiwandi in Thane. The building housed godowns on the ground and first floor and four families in tenements on the top floor. 22 residents were believed to be trapped in the debris out of which, 10 injured are being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi. Eight people died in the incident. The residents were rescued with the help of the Thane Disaster Response Force personnel National Disaster Response Force personnel. The rescue operation was called off after more than 45 hours of the incident. On Saturday night, Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde visited the IGM hospital after visiting the incident site, where he met with the injured. The CM also announced ₹5 lakh assistance to each of the kin of the deceased. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF to the heir of the deceased and the injured would be given Rs. 50,000.

Twelve people have died after more than 30 people fell into a stepwell at an Indore temple this morning. The roof of the well, which housed the shrine, had collapsed due to heavy footfall on the occasion of Ram Navami. Seventeen people have been rescued and many of them hospitalised as rescue work at Beleshwar Mahadev temple continues.
