As the interim budget for the financial year 2024-25 was rolled out on February 01, President of the US-India Business Council (USIBC) Atul Keshap lauded US and India governments for their focus on iCET sectors and budget. Atul Keshap said, “First of all, I think this is a very confident, very sober and very pro-growth budget by the government of India, and I think it signals a real sense of optimism about the economic growth of the country. It sends a very strong signal to investors about the constancy of government policy. So I think it's very positive. And I congratulate the Finance Minister, her entire team and the government.” “So it actually details really nicely with iCET (Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology), which is the initiative on critical and emerging technologies that the two governments and the US chamber launched in January of 2023. So first, for instance, there's a $12 billion fund to help develop these so-called sunrise sectors of deep tech and future tech. And there's a lot of money as well on semiconductors. I think the government of India is showing great focus on artificial intelligence, quantum computing and other iCET sectors. I led an aerospace and defence mission last week, or rather this week, to Delhi, and we had really good and encouraging meetings. So I really applaud both the US and Indian governments for their focus on the iCET sectors and this budget. It proves that that focus is backed by real money,” he added.

Dr S Jaishankar said, “Italy is historically among our oldest links with Europe. In recent years, Italy has also played a very, made a very major contribution to strengthening, cooperation with the European Union, as a whole. We have been in the midst of negotiations since 2021 a set of agreements, the most important of which is a free trade agreement with the European Union. We also have, last year, set up, a trade and technology council, with the European Union. The EU only has 2 of these councils, one with the United States and one with India. The fact that the EU, the US, and India are today coordinating and cooperating very closely on technology matters is something which is very, important to recognize.” “We see very frankly very difficult times ahead, very turbulent times ahead. In the last 5 years the impact, on the global economy, certainly, but even on society of COVID has been very, traumatic. There are still many countries and many societies which have not recovered from it. We have seen, that progress in sustainable development goals, in many countries, has been rolled back, and many more countries today are facing, a financial economic crisis, and debt is a very big problem. Trade has been very challenging. We've had the conflict in Ukraine. In a globalized world, it has affected every part of the world,” he added. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar embarked his official visit to Portugal and Italy from October 31 to November 3.

Soon after the Kerala blasts incident, the blame game began as the BJP held the Kerala Government responsible. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar held CM Vijayan responsible for the deadly incident. Kerala CM strongly reacted to Chandrasekhar’s remarks and said, “Those who are spitting poison will keep spitting poison”. On the other hand, Union Minister Anurag Thakur condemned Kerala's multiple blasts. He said that the State’s MP Rahul Gandhi’s complete silence on this shows that Congress is silently supporting them. Adding further, he said Congress and the Communist Party are silently supporting them and are not taking action. Multiple explosions hit the Jehovah’s Witness prayers meeting in Kochi on October 29. Three persons lost their lives in the tragic incident and around 36 were severely injured.

One person died and several more were injured after multiple explosions took place at a prayer meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses in the Kalamassery area of Kerala's Kochi on the morning of October 29. The first explosion took place around 9 a.m. and multiple blasts followed thereafter, over the next hour. More than 2,000 people were attending the prayer meeting when the blasts took place. The incident came a day after the former chief of the terrorist group Hamas, Khaled Mashal, virtually addressed a pro-Palestine protest amid the Israeli military offensive in Gaza. Director General of Police Shaik Darvesh said that the preliminary investigation showed that an IED device was used for the explosion. Further investigations are going on in this Kerala blast incident.
