Mid-Day story creates an impact Impact as two days after reports of potholes on Thane East Kopri Bridge were reported, the potholes were filled by the authorities. Mid-day had reported that Thane’s Kopri rail overbridge (ROB) was yet another newly opened bridge to wither within a few months of use, exposing more shoddy work in the state. A demostration led by students in Tiananmen Square in Beijing in 1989 saw it all; millitarty-led crackdown, agitation and even bloiddshed. Tiananmen Square Massacre, also known as June Fourth Massacre occured when "troops armed with assault rifles and accompanied by tanks fired at the demonstrators and those trying to block the military's advance into Tiananmen Square." The agitations began on 15 April and were forcibly suppressed on 4 June when Chinese government sent the People's Liberation Army to occupy parts of central Beijing. A record victory in nearly four decades, Congress all the way in Karnataka

In terms of seats and vote share, the victory of Congress in Karnataka assembly polls has set a record that has stood for more than 30 years. With a vote percentage of 42.88 percent, the party has won 135 seats, gaining 55 more than in 2018. The 1999 election, when it won 132 seats and earned a vote share of 40.84 percent, was the closest the Congress has ever come to today’s result. It received 43.76 per cent of the vote in 1989 and gained won seats. "This victory belongs to the people of the state," said Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge after the results. “People decided and chose. That is why we got 136 seats - huge after 36 years... It is a big victory...,” he said.
