Western Railway completed the metal barrier fencing on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Railways route on March 13. The fencing has been done to curb the cattle run-over incidents. While speaking to the ANI, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that after the installation of the fence, the risk of cattle getting killed will be zero. "This is a very innovative design of fencing which has been put up from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. After the installation of this fence, cattle will not be able to come on the track and the risk of cattle getting killed will practically be zero. This innovation has been accepted by people as well. Due to this fence, the trains running between Mumbai to Ahmedabad can be taken to 160 km/hour,” said Ashwini Vaishnaw. The metal beam fencing is very robust as it consists of two W-beams. A W-beam type stands for wide flanges, which are thicker, and aid in resisting bend stress. Such fencing is used in highways & expressways, especially in accident-prone areas to protect vehicles as well as pedestrians.

On 26th of February, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation over 2000 railway infrastructure projects worth around Rs 41,000 crores. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor at Sahibabad RapidX Station, on October 20. He also flagged off the RapidX train - ‘Namo Bharat’, connecting Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, marking the launch of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in India. The 17 Km priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor, will connect Sahibabad to 'Duhai Depot' with stations at Ghaziabad, Guldhar and Duhai on the way. The foundation stone for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor was laid by the Prime Minister on 8th March 2019.

In a significant stride towards the ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has marked a major breakthrough with another engineering marvel. On October 05, NHSRCL successfully completed the first mountain tunnel for the corridor in just 10 months. This mountain tunnel is about 1 km from Jaroli village in Umbergaon taluka of Valsad district of Gujarat. The mountain tunnel has enhanced the progress of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project towards its anticipated completion.

On September 16, General Manager of Integral Coach Factory, B G Mallya, addressed mediapersons and spoke about major projects, including Vande Bharat Express and Vande Metro. BG Mallya also informed that both projects are scheduled to be completed in this financial year. While addressing the media, B G Mallya, General Manager of Integral Coach Factory, said, "We'll be launching the sleeper version of the Vande within this financial year. We'll also be launching the Vande Metro this financial year. We'll be launching this train for non-air conditioned passengers, which is called a non-AC push-pull train and will have 22 coaches and a locomotive. And that launch is going to happen before October 31st."
