Speaking about a viral video showing a group of Sadhus being purportedly thrashed by a mob in the Purulia district in West Bengal, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur on January 13 criticised the West Bengal government against appeasement politics and Law and Order issue in the state.While talking to the media, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, "Appeasement politics has created such an environment. Law and order have collapsed in West Bengal...the question is why is there such anti-Hindu thinking?"

While speaking on Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita Bills 2023 in Lok Sabha, BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur on December 20 supported the Bills and made a fiery speech in the Parliament. She also lambasted Congress and opposition leaders for opposing the Bills. The Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita bill seeks to replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860, which is the principal law on criminal offence in India. The new bill adds community service as a form of punishment. The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, 2023 seeks to replace the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 (CrPC). The CrPC provides for the procedure for arrest, prosecution, and bail. The Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill, 2023 (BSB2) replaces the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.

54th IFFI Event: The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) kicked off on November 20 at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Taleigao-Goa which is scheduled to go on till the 28th of November. Actor Ishaan Khatter who is awaiting the release of his film ‘Pippa’, opened up on working on his debut Hollywood project ‘The Perfect Couple’. Soon after the Kerala blasts incident, the blame game began as the BJP held the Kerala Government responsible. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar held CM Vijayan responsible for the deadly incident. Kerala CM strongly reacted to Chandrasekhar’s remarks and said, “Those who are spitting poison will keep spitting poison”. India's information and broadcasting and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur informed about the legendary cricketer's death and condoled his death at the Dharamsala Stadium.
