With his latest feature film Gudhal now streaming on Hungama OTT, Airtel Xstream, Tata Play Binge, and Watcho, Parashar continues to establish himself as a storyteller who believes cinema can entertain while inspiring meaningful conversations.
Written, directed, and produced by Parashar, Gudhal explores the hidden realities of old-age homes and the emotional trauma of abandonment. Rather than approaching the subject with melodrama, the film presents a sensitive and layered narrative about family, dignity, loneliness, and the relationships that define us. Speaking about the film, Parashar says, "I've always believed that cinema has the power to spark conversations. âGudhal' is not just about old-age homes; it's about relationships, empathy, and the responsibilities we often overlook. I wanted to tell a story that stays with audiences long after they leave the screen."
Originally beginning his career as a model, Parashar gradually transitioned into films and has worn multiple hats as an actor, filmmaker, writer, and producer. As an actor, he has appeared in projects including Fashion, The Past, Moksh to Maya, and Lights Camera Murder. More recently, he featured in Launda Naach, which premiered in the National Competition section of the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF).
His filmmaking journey has been equally noteworthy. Before making his feature directorial outing with Gudhal, Parashar directed the internationally acclaimed short film Bahaar, which went on to win 14 international awards across the global festival circuit. The recognition positioned him among emerging independent filmmakers committed to socially relevant storytelling.
With Gudhal, Parashar expands that vision into feature filmmaking. The film has also completed a successful festival run, earning accolades including Best Debut Director and Best Social Film, reflecting the industry's appreciation for its emotional storytelling and strong thematic core.
Interestingly, Gudhal was extensively shot across Mumbai and Agra, using real locations to add authenticity to the film's visual language. Combined with restrained performances and an emotionally resonant screenplay, the film attempts to present a subject that remains universally relevant across generations.
