Leading global healthcare provider Narayana Health has announced the acquisition of UK-based Practice Plus Group Hospitals, marking its entry into the British healthcare market. Practice Plus Group operates 12 hospitals and surgical centres in the UK, specialising in orthopaedics, ophthalmology, and general surgery. It is the fifth-largest private hospital group in the country, performing around 80,000 surgeries annually. The acquisition is expected to help Narayana Health tap into the growing demand for private sector surgeries in the UK.

Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, founder and chairman of Narayana Health, said, "The acquisition of Practice Plus Group hospitals and surgical centres is an incredibly exciting step for Narayana Health. Like Narayana Health, Practice Plus Group recognised that the majority of patients were struggling to access healthcare, while only a minority could afford costly private healthcare. Together, we are a perfect fit, and I am looking forward to welcoming Practice Plus Group to Narayana Health and helping many more patients get the help they need."

Speaking on the development, Jim Easton, Chief Executive of Practice Plus Group, stated, "Dr Shetty and Narayana Health have an enviable reputation for high-quality, efficient healthcare with a human touch, and I'm excited about what Practice Plus Group's hospitals and surgical centres can achieve with the commitment and expertise of Narayana Health behind us."

The integration will bring the hospital division of Practice Plus Group into Narayana Health's ecosystem, leveraging its technology and operational expertise to drive innovation, efficiency, and long-term value for patients and stakeholders.

Founded by Dr Devi Shetty and headquartered in Bengaluru, Narayana Health is among the largest healthcare providers in India, operating primary, secondary, and super-specialty tertiary care facilities across India and the Caribbean. The group employs over 18,800 professionals, including nearly 3,900 doctors and specialists, and runs subsidiaries such as Narayana One Health (NH Integrated Care) and Narayana Health Insurance.

This acquisition places Narayana Health among the top three healthcare providers in India by revenue and marks a significant step in its mission to make high-quality healthcare more accessible globally.
