Aditya Birla Group firm UltraTech Cement on Monday posted a 21.27 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 1,501.38 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026.

The largest cement maker in India had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,237.98 crore in the corresponding period last year, it said in a regulatory filing.

Expenses rise on higher raw material cost

Consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 23,295.07 crore during the September quarter compared to Rs 19,606.93 crore in the year-ago period.

The total income of the cement flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group rose 18.44 per cent to Rs 23,405.96 crore from Rs 19,761.07 crore in the same quarter last year.

However, total expenses of the company increased to Rs 21,338.88 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 18,119.56 crore in the year-ago period largely due to higher input costs.

"UltraTech performed well despite headwinds on account of a monsoon-affected quarter and the ongoing west Asia crisis," the company said.

Sales volume

The company' domestic grey cement sales volumes rose 13.8 per cent to 35.94 million tonnes, from 31.58 million tonnes in Q2 FY26. This was supported by disciplined execution, a wider market footprint, cost optimisation and a sharper focus on premium products, it said.

UltraTech's consolidated sales volume was up 12.9 per cent to 38.22 MT.

Capacity expansion

The company's consolidated domestic grey cement capacity stood at 204.7 mtpa. Its global grey cement capacity stood at 210.1 mtpa, which includes 5.4 mtpa of overseas capacity.

"The company is on track with its organic growth capex programme to reach a capacity of 240+ mtpa by March 2028," it said.

Besides, its capacity utilisation increased to 71 per cent from 66 per cent over the same period last year.

"Higher volumes and improved profitability strengthened UltraTech's position in the market," it said.

"During the quarter, UltraTech Cement commissioned 3.6 mtpa greenfield integrated capacity at Petnikota, Andhra Pradesh, and added 1.0 mtpa through debottlenecking at its existing cement plants at Visakhapatnam, Patratu and Nathdwara," it said.

Shares of UltraTech closed at Rs 10620.10 on the BSE, down 2.82 per cent from the previous close.
