The most visible companion of hair loss in Traya's 5 lakh man study is dismissed as a minor annoyance, says the co founder

The most common companion of hair loss in Traya's 5 lakh man study is one every Indian man recognises but which is often dismissed as a minor annoyance. This Hair Loss Awareness Month, Traya co founder Saloni Anand is putting a number on it: 65% of men with hair loss had dandruff linked to scalp inflammation.

"Our study across 5 lakh Indian men confirmed hair loss is not a single problem with a single solution. 60% reported high stress levels. 30% of those under 25 had irregular sleep. 65% had dandruff linked to scalp inflammation. 37% had gut issues affecting nutrient absorption. Hair loss is the body telling you something internal needs attention." said Saloni Anand, Co Founder, Traya.

Dandruff as more than an annoyance, in Traya's data

Dandruff occupies roughly the same cultural position as stress: universal, joked about, managed superficially and never interrogated. The white flecks on a dark shirt are treated as a laundry problem. What the Traya data shows is that dandruff linked to scalp inflammation appeared in nearly two thirds of the hair loss cases studied.

The most actionable number of the month

Among the study's findings, the 65% figure may be the most practically useful, because dandruff is the one companion of hair loss a man can see. Stress and gut issues hide; flakes announce themselves. A man who learns to read persistent dandruff as a signal rather than an annoyance has another visible reason to pay attention to his broader scalp health.

For Hair Loss Awareness Month, Anand's message is simple: when dandruff and hair thinning appear together, the scalp symptoms should not be dismissed as a minor annoyance.
