IFFI 2025
The 56th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) opened in Goa with a Grand Opening Ceremony hosted by Ms. International World 2021, Dr. Akshata Prabhu, who was selected as the Official Host with the ceremony being telecast LIVE on Doordarshan, reaching millions of viewers across India and abroad. IFFI, one of Asia's most prestigious cinematic gatherings, commenced in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and senior officials from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
This year's opening unveiled the festival's first-ever Floating Parade celebrating India's cinematic heritage. A key feature of IFFI 2025 is its celebration of women-led cinema, aligned with the Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Nari Shakti' initiative. The festival is screening 50 films by 50 women directors, a milestone Dr. Prabhu spotlighted during her live segments on Doordarshan.
Sharing her reflections on the ceremony, Dr. Akshata Prabhu said:

On the red carpet, Dr. Prabhu interviewed celebrated industry figures including Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, and Shekhar Kapur, the Festival Director of the 56th IFFI along with the international cast and crew of the Brazilian film The Blue Trial, along with South Indian icon Balakrishna, who marked his 50-year milestone with Daku Maharaj.
Doordarshan officials emphasized that Dr. Prabhu was chosen as the Host due to her Indo-global persona, strong communication skills, and international exposure. Beyond her achievements as Ms. International World 2021, she is the Co-Founder & CEO of The International Glamour Project (TIGP), a platform that fosters global collaborations across fashion, media, and entertainment. Known for her ability to connect effortlessly with both Indian and international guests, Dr. Prabhu conducted the ceremony and red-carpet interactions with energy, grace, and enthusiasm.
