Plug N Ride Motors India enters Tanzania with locally assembled electric vehicles.

Underscoring India's growing leadership in sustainable mobility and marking a significant milestone in

its global expansion journey, Plug N Ride Motors India Pvt. Ltd. today announced its foray into the African market with the launch of Plug &

Ride Company Limited (Tanzania), introducing Tanzania's first locally assembled electric tricycles and electric motorcycles while reaffirming its commitment to building a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable mobility ecosystem across East Africa.

The launch marks Plug N Ride Motors India's first manufacturing

footprint on the African continent and reflects the company's growing global ambitions to take Indian electric mobility innovation beyond

domestic borders. More than an international expansion, the initiative represents Plug N Ride's vision of creating sustainable mobility

ecosystems in emerging markets through local manufacturing, technology transfer, strategic partnerships and skill development.

To lead its African operations, Plug N Ride Motors India Pvt. Ltd. has established Plug & Ride Company Limited in Tanzania. The partnership has been designed to support Tanzania's industrialisation

agenda by promoting local assembly, strengthening domestic

manufacturing capabilities, generating employment and accelerating the country's transition towards clean mobility.

At the heart of the expansion is Plug & Ride's state-of-the-art assembly facility in Dar es Salaam, where the company will manufacture electric

vehicles engineered specifically for African operating conditions. The portfolio includes passenger and cargo electric tricycles, electric motorcycles, electric bicycles, school transport vehicles, electric ambulances, municipal utility vehicles, golf carts and customised commercial electric vehicles, making Plug N Ride one of the region's most diversified electric mobility manufacturers.

Unlike a conventional vehicle launch, Plug & Ride Company is

introducing a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem designed to ensure long-term adoption. Alongside manufacturing, the company will establish an integrated network of authorised dealerships, service centres, charging infrastructure, spare parts distribution, technician training

programmes and digital customer support, creating a sustainable

foundation for electric mobility across Tanzania and the wider East African region.

As part of its expansion roadmap, Plug N Ride has announced an ambitious target of delivering 5,000 electric vehicles during the

2026-27 financial year, underlining its confidence in Tanzania's rapidly

evolving clean mobility market.

A key milestone during the launch was the signing of a strategic

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Plug & Ride Company Limited and Equity Bank Tanzania Limited to establish a dedicated

electric mobility financing framework. The collaboration will provide affordable and flexible financing solutions for transport operators, fleet owners, entrepreneurs, MSMEs, institutions and individual customers purchasing electric motorcycles, electric tricycles and electric bicycles,

helping remove one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption in the country.

Speaking at the launch, Zafar Equbal, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Plug N Ride Motors India Pvt. Ltd., said:

"Our entry into Tanzania is not simply an international expansion rather it is the beginning of Plug N Ride's global journey. We believe India's electric mobility expertise can become a catalyst for sustainable growth across emerging economies. Tanzania offers the ideal platform to demonstrate how innovation, local manufacturing and strategic partnerships can transform mobility while

creating jobs, strengthening industries and improving lives."

"At Plug N Ride, we are not just assembling electric vehicles; we are building

an ecosystem. Our commitment extends beyond technology to skill development, technology transfer, local value creation and accessible financing. We want every entrepreneur, transport operator and community to participate in Africa's clean mobility revolution. This is the first step towards making Plug N Ride a trusted global electric mobility brand born in India and built for the world."

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Hon. David Mwakiposa Kihenzile (MP), Deputy Minister of Transport, United Republic of Tanzania, who formally inaugurated Plug & Ride Company Tanzania.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Minister described the project as an important milestone in advancing sustainable transportation and industrial development, observing that the initiative aligns with Tanzania's vision of promoting green innovation, strengthening local manufacturing

capabilities and creating new employment opportunities.

Pradeep Singh Chauhan, Director, Plug & Ride Company Limited,

said:

"This launch marks the beginning of a new chapter for sustainable transportation in Tanzania. Our focus is to deliver reliable electric mobility solutions backed by strong after-sales support, innovative financing and robust infrastructure that will inspire confidence among customers and fleet operators alike."

Delivering the vote of thanks, Otieno Olung'A Igogo, Director, Plug & Ride Company Limited, acknowledged the support extended by the Government of Tanzania, Equity Bank Tanzania Limited, investors,

development partners, suppliers, transport associations, diplomatic

missions and all stakeholders who contributed to making the project a reality.

He said:

"This achievement reflects the strength of collaboration between government, industry and our partners. Together, we are laying the foundation for an electric mobility ecosystem that will create lasting economic, environmental and social value for Tanzania."

According to the company, the investment is expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment, strengthen Tanzania's

manufacturing ecosystem, enhance local technical capabilities, reduce transportation costs, improve urban air quality and contribute meaningfully towards the country's sustainable development goals.

With the launch of Plug & Ride Company Tanzania, Plug N Ride Motors India has established a strategic gateway into Africa while reinforcing India's growing stature as a global hub for sustainable

mobility innovation. By combining advanced Indian engineering, local manufacturing, accessible financing and enduring partnerships, the

company aims to build a resilient electric mobility ecosystem that delivers lasting economic, environmental and social impact across East Africa.

For Plug N Ride Motors India, Tanzania is only the beginning. As the company expands its international footprint, it carries forward a larger vision to position an Indian electric mobility brand among the world's leading clean transportation companies while advancing sustainable

development across emerging markets.
