The Republic of India, once seen through the lens of colonial decline and foreign dependency, now stands at the cusp of a new dawn-a technologically empowered Bharat rising with unshakable resolve. Alongside global giants like the U.S. and China, India is now the fourth largest economy beating Japan and undeniably one of the most formidable emerging superpowers of the 21st century.
Nitin Jain Baraiya, Sr. Lecturer of Physics at Allen Career Institute and a certified career coach explains how individuals can contribute to and shape the nation's journey to success.
The Superpower status isn't gifted-it's earned. It demands technological might, military readiness, economic resilience, and cultural pride. And in this journey, the engine of transformation is technology.
The Torchbearers of Transformation
Military and Economic strength of a nation to a large extent depends on the technological advancement made by the nation. The onus of the technological advancement solely lies on the Scientists and Engineers whose tremendous ideas have been transforming the societies since ages. The 18th century Industrial Revolution in Britain marked a significant turning point in history, impacting various aspects of society. Advanced manufacturing techniques facilitated British expansion and colonization of territories worldwide, including India.
For many centuries, Indian civilization led the world in thought, science, and philosophy. However, the last two centuries witnessed erosion-first by colonial subjugation, then by internal stagnation. Yet, a new breed of Indian scientists, engineers and technocrats is rewriting this narrative.
From the successful space programmes to nuclear programmes, India has entered the elite group of select nations asserting its technological superiority and has been regaining its lost power and prestige. Two centuries of subjugation, oppression and denial have failed to kill the creativity and capability of the Indians. Within just a decade of gaining independence and achieving sovereignty, Indian Space and Atomic Energy Programmes were launched with a perfect orientation towards peaceful applications.
From the Silicon Valleys of Bengaluru to the DRDO labs, from ISRO's launch pads to AI-based defense command centers, today's India is led by visionaries who innovate not just for profit-but for the nation.
As we talk of a new Bharat, it becomes important that the technological advancement made by the Scientists, Engineers and Technocrats of the country must be able to transform the lives of every single common man. In today's world, technological backwardness leads to subjugation. When Chinese war philosopher, Sun Tzu ruminated over 2000 years ago that what matters in war is not decimating the enemy army physically but breaking his will so as to make him concede defeat in the mind, he seems to have visualised the domination of technology in the twenty first century theatre of war
Operation Sindoor: A Watershed Moment
On April 22, 2025, the nation watched in horror as 26 Hindus on vacations were killed in Pahalgam by Pakistani terrorists. But this time, the response was not silence or statements-it was Operation Sindoor. A swift, high-precision retaliation against terror hubs across the border.
What set this apart was not just the courage of our armed forces, but the technological backbone that enabled the mission-AI-guided targeting systems, real-time satellite intelligence, encrypted drone coordination, quantum-secured communication channels, supersonic cruise missiles and an invincible air defence system.
This is New India's war doctrine-intelligent, integrated, and indisputable.
The time has come for every Indian-especially the youth, engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs-to recognize their role in this ascent. The future of India will not be written by foreign investments or diplomatic pleasantries alone-it will be forged in labs, code, classrooms, and command centers.
India's rise is not just probable-it is inevitable. And technology is our pathway to greatness.
Let our resilience inspire hope. Let our enemies tremble with fear. Let our people rise. Because this is not just India's time-it is India's century.
