Russia Open Dialogue.
On April 28, the National Centre "Russia" hosted the ceremonial opening of the 2nd Open Dialogue "The Future of the World: A New Platform for Global Growth." The participants were addressed with a welcoming speech by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. He noted that in a short period of time, the Open Dialogue has reached a global scale and has become a significant platform for professional communication - "without the imposition of viewpoints and without the dominance of ideas that are declared in advance by someone as the only correct ones."
"Dear friends, ladies and gentlemen, I welcome the participants and guests of the Second International Forum âOpen Dialogue' to the capital of Russia, Moscow. Its geography, without exaggeration, covers the entire planet. Experts, business leaders, and researchers from 120 countries took part in the essay competition and creative works, including representatives from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Australia, North America, and South America. All authors and researchers, with different experiences and perspectives, were united by a strong and bold idea - to form a shared understanding of the future - the future of a world that has entered an era of profound structural changes," said Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
The Russian leader noted that the ideas generated within the Open Dialogue will continue to spread and will ultimately lead to real changes.
"The conclusions drawn from your discussions, as last year, will be taken forward at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum in June and will be reflected in its business program. At the same time, I would like to emphasize once again that the key, central theme of the Open Dialogue is the needs of people in a new, changing world. I am confident that holding the Open Dialogue will help find effective solutions to many such challenges, will contribute to ensuring sustainable long-term economic growth, and will improve the quality of life for people around the world - in a world where mutual trust is valued and where there is a willingness to resolve any conflicts on the basis of compromise," the head of state concluded.
This year, the essay competition reached a new level, with more than 1,600 submissions from 98 countries. As noted by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation and Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the National Centre "Russia," Maxim Oreshkin, each essay represents an attempt to answer the questions of where the world is heading and which ideas will form the foundation of the next stage of global growth. The authors include researchers, students, entrepreneurs, representatives of the public sector, non-profit organizations, and media, and this diversity makes the discussion comprehensive and as close as possible to real practices across different countries.
On the first day of the Open Dialogue, April 27, pitching sessions were held, during which 102 essay authors who advanced to the in-person stage presented their ideas across four key areas: "Investing in People," "Investing in Connectivity," "Investing in Technology," and "Investing in the Environment." Each presentation was allocated up to seven minutes. Following the voting, in which both jury members and the essay authors themselves participated on equal terms, the four best works were selected in each category.
On the second day of the Open Dialogue, the central event will be Maxim Oreshkin's presentation on global megatrends shaping the development of the world economy in the near future. After that, the first-day finalists will present their concepts in panel discussions, where their ideas will receive expert evaluation and public discussion.
On April 29, participants will see the summary results of the 2nd Open Dialogue. Maxim Oreshkin will hold an informal meeting with young participants, followed by a final epilogue session in which the main conclusions and directions for further work will be formulated.
The Open Dialogue "The Future of the World: A New Platform for Global Growth" is an annual international event initiated by the National Centre "Russia" in partnership with the Centre for Intersectoral Expertise "Third Rome," with the support of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.
