When you meet National Award winning actor Prakash Raj, you are taken by his intensity. Whatever I do, I like to do with passion, says Prakash who is better known by his screen image of Jaykant Shirke of Singham.

In a candid interview with CS, the actor talks about his off-screen persona, and his love for family and films:

Who: Prakash Raj
What: Talks about his off-screen persona
Where: Madh Island

Real vs reel
Till now, people have seen me in villainous roles where I have been portrayed as arrogant and over-the-top. But I am the absolute opposite in real life. For starters, u00a0I am a very level-headed man. When I was at Jaisalmer and Jaipur airports, I heard people referring to me as Jaykant. I know that they identify with my on-screen persona and not me. It will take years before they can recognise me as Prakash Raj. I have a lot of work to do. In fact, I feel it's too early to give interviews. I haven't done any work to be written about. As a person, I am highly unpredictable, always in my own space. Prakash is a very vulnerable, emotional and lucky guy to be loved by so many people. I am very grateful for all that I have. Now, I won't talk more on this because I am not a philosopher. And it will all be lies (laughs out loud).

Family comes first
I love spending time with my family. Whenever I am home I want my daughters, mother, brother, brother's children and everyone around me. I adore kids. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones. Family gives you a sense of belonging, something you sorely miss in your hectic work schedules and travelling. Your family loves you unconditionally. After I pack up, I head straight home. I never attend parties or get-togethers unless someone who is very close invites me for one. I am very attached to my daughters Meghana and Pooja. One is 16 and the other is six years old. I plan their holidays and like being connected to them all the time. Whenever I get free time, I head off for a vacation. I love travelling.

Filmi fundas
I have done 300 films so far. Out of them, I have seen only 40. I don't like to watch my films. I am done with a film after my shooting schedule is over. I don't want to see my films and get influenced into thinking that one particular type of role works for me, or that a particular expression gets me the wolf whistles. Once you start understanding your popularity, you get corrupted and your growth as an actor is thwarted. I will watch all my films after I retire. I feel that women are the world's best actors. Right from my mom to my daughters, all are Oscar winners! (smiles)
