Zarine Khan's story is the stuff teen dreams are made of, except that the dream is still not over
Zarine Khan's story is the stuff teen dreams are made of, except that the dream is still not over. In a candid interview with CS, the 20 year-old reveals how she stumbled across a career in films just after a chance meeting with heartthrob Salman Khan and how Lady Luck keeps guiding her:
WHO: Zarine Khan
WHAT: Talking about her debut film Veer
WHERE: At a friend's place
Actor by chance For a newcomer, Veer is unrealistic. Firstly, I never aimed to become an actress. I've completed HSC and wanted to become a doctor. Unfortunately, family circumstances dictated that I left studies and did something to bring home an income. I started modelling. So to me, Veer is not a dream come true, because it feels like I'm still dreaming!
Salman mania I have always admired Salman. When I was called on the sets of Yuvraj, I went there just so that I could get a glimpse of Salman. One day on the sets, Salman was sitting alone after a workout session. I noticed him and was in a dilemma of whether to talk or not. I said 'Salaam' and ran away from there. After sometime, his guard came up to me and asked me if I wanted to meet him and I grabbed the opportunity. When I faced him, my mouth literally went dry. I asked him to sign an autograph for me and he murmured, "You will be signing autographs after some days." I didn't understand it then. However, after some days, I got a call for Veer!
Weight management When I decided to start modeling, I weighed 100 kgs. I have a sweet tooth, and so in order to lose weight, I had to stop eating everything that I loved. I used to literally survive on boiled food. With lot of rigorous exercise, I reduced to 55 kgs. After signing on Veer, I was told that I would have to increase my weight. I was actually happy that I was getting to eat all those things that I'd given up. But now the shoot is over and I am already back to my normal self. I must be the first newcomer in the industry who was asked to increase weight!
Accident prone Shooting for Veer has been an unforgettable experience. I was so prone to accidents that people used to literally bet on the types of accidents I would have in a day! I've fallen while running; the long wig I wear in the film caught fire, my toenail broke while dancing. It was all very funny. Even in real life such things keep happening to me!
