Cityu2019s Crime Branch gets its first Belgian recruit VISHAL SINGH vishal. singh@ mid- day. com IN a first, a one- year- threemonth- old Belgian Malinois named . essy has been inducted in the dog squad of the Mumbai policeu2019s Crime Branch. . essy underwent nine months of training before her induction and will serve as a tracker dog.

The Belgian Malinois breed is used in anti- Maoist operations in India. One was involved in the Pathankot anti- terror operation too. That canine, part of National Security Guardu2019s ( NSG) operations, had helped them track terrorists.
