What's it about: In an attempt to cash in on the vampire rage that's taken over TV (True Blood) and cinema (the Twilight series), Daybreakers tells the story of a time when humans face near-extinction.

Edward (Ethan) is living in a world plagued by the living dead.
Vampires have taken over, feeding and harvesting every remaining human before their blood banks dry up. But for how long will this symbiotic relation last?
Just when he thinks the human race is about to go extinct, a breakaway group of vampires hold the solution to the key to saving the human race.
What's hot: Despite the fact that the genre and subject have been dealt in detail numerous times before, Daybreakers still manages to hold your attention.
The directors go all out in creating a repelling dark world where human life is sacrificed to keep vampires alive. The cast's an interesting mix, especially Willem Dafoe and Ethan Hawke, who have twisted characters.

Those in the mood for a zombie movie won't be disappointed. There's ample blood and gore to keep you entertained. Also the lifestyle and rituals of the bloodsuckers is pretty riveting.
What's not: Even though the film has style there isn't enough substance to keep you glued till the very end. Dialogue falls flat and supporting characters are mere distractions because of the lack of a solid script.

Problem is that we have seen most of what the film offers before- hand. Sun-fearing creatures, fangs dipping with blood, even the fight sequences look inspired from the Blade series.
Trying to find its own ground between the existing popular franchise of the same genre is a tough act for filmmakers.
What to do: If you're in the mood for a fast-paced B-movie that doesn't make too much sense and has loads of gut wrenching gore, Daybreakers would be the right choice.
