But for the superior aerial photography, this so-called biopic onu00a0 aviatrix Amelia Earhart (Swank) would never have taken off. There's too much happening on terra firma, and pretty pointless stuff, too.
Amelia is more the tussle of a 'suitable companion for Ms Earhart' between her husband, publisher George Putnam (Gere) and love interest and flyboy, Gene Vidal (McGregor).
The high-flier herself disappeared into thin air while attempting to circumnavigate the globe.
While Amelia, the person, takes a backseat to the making of Amelia, the brand, in this movie.
Gere looks every bit the part of the savvy businessman husband. Surprisingly, the aviatrix spends more time with her boyfriend's son, Gore than with Gene himself.
At the end of it all, you kind of miss the point this movie was trying to make. A biopic is supposed to tell a life's story. And it that respect, this one fails miserably.
