Forty-five years after its release, Dev Anand's Guide has achieved international recognition. The Cannes Film Festival Committee recently wrote to the veteran star to send a print for its archives. No wonder, he is ecstatic and calls it a huge honour for him and those involved in its making. In fact, Dev Anand believes the recognition proves that it still appeals to audiences the way it had done at the time of its release.

About Guide

Guide was directed by Vijay Anand and starred Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman. It tells the story of Raju (Dev Anand) a tour guide and small-time con man who meets Rosie (Waheeda Rehman) and falls in love with her. However, Rosie is already married to an abusive husband. The two overcome hurdles to be together, but split till Raju is found guilty of forging cheques. After his release from prison, Raju inadvertently gets involved in a situation where he has to either pull off the biggest con of his career or die. The film was released in 1965 and became an instant hit.
