The Movies I Loved Growing Up
Rocky: All people who love sports would love the story of the underdog who makes it. For me, it was a childhood fantasy to be the underdog who wins. I didn't win very often but when I did, I had Rocky in my mind. Also I began to eat raw eggs after this film.
Citizen Kane: This movie had a combination of great direction, great screenplay and superb photography. It showed me how with whatever technology one has, one can still make a film that is timeless.
Cinema Paradiso: This movie taught me the emotional power of movies, the emotional connect and how at the end of days, the movies have to connect with your emotional core.
Au00a0Clockwork Orange: It opened my eyes to what high production design can make a cinematic experience. The sound design as well as the production design was superb in the film and there was a certain fearlessness on the part of the filmmaker and the total belief in the performances on the part of the actors. That really brought a great book into a great film, which is rare.
Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron: We were watching Naseeruddin Shah on Om Puri at the heights of their powers. They were saying the most absurd, unbelievable things. The characters were doing the most illogical things but there was such a kind of logical madness. The madness seemed logical within the film. So a film does not have to be real or fantasy to be believable. Just has to have an internal logic of its own.
Like when I wrote Everybody Says I'm Fine and did it, there is no hairdresser who can ready the customers' mind but once you believe that internal logic, then everything is believable.
Farhan Azmi and Ayesha Takia's wedding invite landed on our desks after Amrita Arora's card last week.
The Dor actress weds in a cricket stadium and the invite is from Farhan's parents Zaheda and Abu Asim Azmi and Ayesha's mother Faridah. Guess a lot of political and B-Town folk will be present.
Himesh Reshammiya (in yet another new hairdo) launched the music of Robby Grewal's Aloo Chaat over the weekend at an Andheri multiplex.
The romantic comedy, which releases on March 13, stars Aftab Shivdasani and Aamna Sharif. The film is produced by actor-turned-filmmaker Anuj Saxena along with Grewal's production house.
British import RDB who has scored some of the tracks performed at the event. Spotted at the launch were Jagmohan Mundhra, Shammi Kapoor's son Aditya Raj Kapoor and Deepshikha.
A birdie flitting around a Juhu lounge bar on Friday night spotted Udita Goswami along with beau Mohit Suri.
Onlookers gaped at their excessive PDA they just could not get their hands off each other. Udita was dressed in a short dress while Mohit was in denims and a tee.
Meanwhile outside the birdie spotted Sohail Khan in casuals with Arpita in a pink churidar kurta. The brother-sister duo was seen waiting (perhaps for their car?) and nobody seemed to be paying any attention to them.

BTW, Amrita Arora was with a big gang of Bandra friends having a pre-marriage celebration?
While in the common washroom, the birdie bumped into Rock On!! director Abhishek Kapoor with a group of girls. He was thorougly enjoying himself the music, we mean.
There was, as usual, Muzammil Ibrahim with his band of buddies.
Bunty Walia was spotted at a five-star hotspot on Saturday night with friends. He was dressed in white shirt and jeans and stood near the bar.
RAZA'S BOLLYWOOD
Q What would Valentine's be called had the hot-headed Aditya Panscholi celebrated the day in his 'usual manner'?
