Family time
Arjun Rampal has taken his biwi Mehr and daughters Mahikaa and Myra on a holiday to Hong Kong. This was Arjun's way of making it up to his girls for not taking them to the Caribbean for a family wedding.
The foursome visited Disneyland in Hong Kong. And the actor was so proud of his betis when they sat on the scariest thrills in Disneyland Space Mountainu00a0a ride that spooked even Mehr. The Rampal babes rode on it twice!
Is this the new fad? We recently spotted Deepika Padukone with a sling bag, then Kangna Ranaut and Anupama Verma as well. Sling it in and remain hands-free seems to be the mantra here.
The Movies I Loved Growing Up
Paritosh Painter
Paying Guests director on the films that matter..
THE GENERAL (1926): I have grown up watching Buster Keaton films they left me awestruck; there was something unique about them. In The General, he pursues a stolen locomotive singlehandedly and through enemy lines! Keaton was an American comic actor and filmmaker. In his films, nothing is impossible it was as if you could think it, you filmed it.
JAANE BHI DO YAARON (1983): I must have seen this film umpteen times. The climax sequence and the scene in which Naseeruddin Shah speaks on the phone with Satish Kaushik you can't get better than this; it is brilliant. Now I realise that the director proved that if you are convinced that a scene will work, then it will work.
HALF TICKET (1962): Simply because of Kishore Kumar. His antics and the situations he falls into u2014 hilarious!
THE GREAT DICTATOR (1940):u00a0 I have watched several of Charlie Chaplin's films during my growing-up days but this one is outstanding. The film had both comedy and tragedy. It made me laugh a lot but it also made me think... and that's something!
SILENT MOVIE (1976): This is sheer entertainment. You can't get crazier, whackier, funnier than Mel Brooks and his Silent Movie. Mel takes the cake I cracked up watching the film even though it did not have any dialogues!
Grow up
These old men seem to have found their second bachpan. Lucky Ali is still stuck in Dennis The Menace mode, while Akbar Khan plays on the 'latter-day Elvis meets Freddie Mercury' look.
Meanwhile, Udit Narayan must have pulled his jacket out of his wardrobe after over a decade. No wonder it can't be buttoned!
Soha Ali Khan, over the weekend, at an Andheri mall to promote TV show Khelo Jeeto Jiyo, which she will anchor. Check out the shoes. Is the actress enroute to becoming a policewaali, too?
Dia Mirza at the 'Think Before You Drive' campaign launched by a tyre company to raise awareness about road safety. As part of its drive, the actress also unveiled a Formula One car.
No Sarkar 3 for nowThe Enlighten Film Society held The Godfather Film Festival at an Andheri multiplex recently. Ram Gopal Varma along with film journalist Bhavna Somaya, discussed the cult film.
The interactive session was attended by cinema students and movie buffs alike. Ramu spoke about his movies, what led to the making of Sarkar and why Sarkar 3, for now, cannot happen.
