Former actress Somy Ali, who is now into social causes has been rescuing abused women and children through her non-profit organisation, No More Tears, for the past two years.

Though she and her band of volunteers have been managing on their own, for the first time, they are asking for aid to help a woman retain her apartment.

The former actress is asking for a donation of $10 (approx Rs 500) from each person to No More Tears.

"We have to make a survivor's rent for September and we have recently applied for grants which won't come through for another few months.

So at this time, I am asking you to make a cheque for $10 to No More Tears and I will send you a tax write-off letter as soon as I receive it.

I am asking you for a woman who needs your help so she won't get evicted from her apartment," she writes.

Akki can't remember names!

While shooting for Khatron Ke Khiladi Level 2, Akshay Kumar gave nicknames to all the haseenas (the contestants) as he could not remember their names.

Mandira Bedi became Bedi Saaheb, Carol Gracias was Kaushal and Anushka Manchanda became Ankush. Says Mandira, "Actually I liked that he called me Bedi Saaheb.

It is what people used to call my grandfather! I liked that he came up with creative nicknames.

But mostly it was because he couldn't remember people's names. Adds Anushka, "Ankush is a guy's name and I found it funny to be called that!"

Opening night

Dino Morea opened yet another branch of his restaurant at Oshiwara on Wednesday.

While shooting for Abbas-Mustan's Life Partner, a baby elephant pushed Prachi Desai with his trunk and it got her so psyched that later she refused to shoot with cheetahs.

Says a source from the unit, "Prachi and Tusshar were shooting for the song Teri Meri Yeh Zindagi with rhinos, lions and elephants.

During the sequence with the elephants, a terrified Prachi kept hiding herself behind Tusshar. During the shot, a baby elephant put his trunk on her back and nudged her so hard, she toppled over.

Then he put his front leg up and was trying to stamp on her feet when Prachi scampered away. The sheer fright on her face was comical." And Ekta Kapoor wasn't even around to help her!

Ghai has a manicure

Sush wants to push

A Bandra birdie recently spotted Sushmita Sen pushing a huge trolley full of food items at a mall.
