The pretty gal had accompanied Aamir Khan to Chanderi village (famous for Chanderi saris) while promoting 3 Idiots. She witnessed first-hand how the weavers, who make the gorgeous Chanderi saris, are forced to work for hours together by candlelight as they don't have electricity for light bulbs. 3 Idiots released long back, but Kareena has not forgotten the weavers, who even gifted her a special sari. Moved by their plight, Kareena has donated Rs 3 lakh to build a solar energy plant that will give the villagers electricity within two months.
Her endeavour doesn't stop there. She is now going to rope in her friends in the film industry to help bring electricity to the 100-odd villages in the country which don't have it right now.
