It's official. Katrina Kaif will play Madhubala opposite Ranbir Kapoor's Kishore Kumar in Anurag Basu's biopic on the late singer. She has already started watching Madhubala's films, such as Mughal e Azam, Chalti Ka Naam Gadi and Mahal in order to prepare for the role. It is expected that the makers of the film will recreate the song Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si between Kishore and Madhubala in Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi for the biopic.

Katrina had earlier signed Anurag's film Silence opposite Ranbir Kapoor. However, when she learnt that Priyanka Chopra would be playing a pivotal role in the film, she opted out. That has apparently not caused any bad blood between her and the director as they are working together on the biopic.

After divorcing his first wife, Kishore Kumar married Madhubala in a civil wedding ceremony in 1960. The marriage ended when Madhubala passed away in 1969.
