I adopted Jimmy five years back when he was just a pup. Actually, I found him under my car and I immediately adopted him, though I was unsure of how my mom would react to a pet at home.
In fact for a year, I kept him in my building's garage because mom wasn't sure about letting him in the house. Eventually, I got him home for a few days because there was some repair work going on in the building.
In these few days, my mom got so attached to Jimmy that she didn't let him go back to the garage. That's how he started living with us. He has become an integral part of our family now and we can't imagine life without him.
Jimmy was adopted from the streets and today he sleeps in an air conditioned room, uses the building elevator and travels by car. But what the two of us cherish the most are our night drives together when we go to feed other stray dogs. Jimmy woofs with glee every time we do that!
