Beautiful, confident, diplomatic and fashionable, these are words that best describe Narmmadaa Ahuja. Govinda's little girl, who has her dad for a role model, is gearing up to make her Bollywood debut in a big banner film. "I am sorry but I can't reveal the details right now, so let's chat about other things" she says with a laugh. CS tries to get to know her better:
Ready to role
While I am excited about my debut film, I am not at all nervous about it. I had been waiting for quite some time for the right role, script and team, and my patience has finally paid off. I know that there are a number of star kids in the industry right now, but I am totally focussed on myself.
I am not bothered about the competition. If I came from a non-filmy background, I would perhaps look up to some of them, but that's not the case with me. I believe that every actor has his own unique style, and I will soon discover mine.
My dad has told me a couple of things; one is to be 200 per cent focussed on my work and second, to always trust my instinct. Though I would like to do a variety of roles, my dad would prefer to see me in light-hearted films, mainly because the audience always goes home feeling happy after a film like that.
Passion for fashion
Barring this film, I've also been busy shooting for magazine covers. I started reading fashion magazines from the age of 16. At that time, they weren't available in India so I used to get them from abroad. When it comes to dressing up, I like to wear what's in vogue. So, you'll find a lot of trendy stuff in my closet.
While I sometimes end up buying non-branded clothes, I believe in splurging on bags, glares and watches. Gucci, Tom Ford, Chanel, Prada, Hermes, Dolce & Gabbana are some of my favourite brands. I'm currently obsessed with Ray Ban glares with colourful frames.
I do feel that I need to curb my passion for retail therapy. You won't believe it, but I can spend the whole day at a MAC store checking out eyeshadows, glosses and blush. I have studied professional make-up, so that's another passion.
After work...
Though I am not a Page 3 person per se, I love to hang out with friends. On weekends, I like to dine out or catch a film.
As a kid, I used to spend quite some time on the film sets, but the atmosphere at home was far from filmy. Now that my dad has cut down on work, I get to spend more time with him. He's extremely chilled out as a person.
