What's it about: Boxing is the only world Mike (Michele) has known. Having grown up in penury with only a sacrificing sis, Anna (Sansa) to back his dreams, he journeys into the world of underground boxing. But if he's got the talent, why go illegal, right?

Well here's the thing. A decent career, even in a sport like boxing, needs you to have luck and money on your side. At an important professional match, Mike fails and returns home dejected, and there are few fights happening.

The bills mount, life gets tough and Mike gets going. He takes on offer to get into illegal fist fights where people could even lose their lives.

What's hot: The performances are startlingly good. The director leads you into a world that's noticeably bleak and bloody violent. And you still look forward to it.

What's not: The film does have a few cliches.

What to do: It's an action flick with none of those Rocky Balboa lines or reasons. The bravado doesn't come from the need to prove something but rather out of desperation, which makes it all the more compelling. Go for it!
