True happiness is having a healthy mind and a healthy body, says actor Ajay Gehi.

"True happiness is having a healthy mind and a healthy body," says actor Ajay Gehi. Seen in Maqbool as Guddu, Ajay hits a high with a role in Raavan. He talks to CS about his fitness and happiness mantra:

The routine

My workout regime comprises weight training and cardio. I do weight training five times a week and cardio twice a week. Cardio includes walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes and on the cross trainer for another 30 minutes. And the workout ends with abdominal muscle and core strengthening exercises.

As I work on different body parts everyday, the workout does not get monotonous, at the same time, it gives enough rest for the earlier worked out muscles to recuperate and grow. I occasionally do spinning or cycling on my days of cardio. My workout session lasts for about an hour-and-fifteen minutes.

Eating wise

I don't starve myself or follow a strict diet, as I am a complfoodie. But I follow some basic principles of healthy eating. I have a heavy breakfast that includes cornflakes with milk and honey, eggs and sometimes fruits.

For lunch, I have rotis, dal, some vegetables and curd. In the evening, at around 6 pm, I eat a brown bread sandwich with either some vegetables or egg whites or chicken. I cut down my intake of carbohydrates after 8 pm. Dinner is mostly proteins and some fibrous food like steamed or boiled chicken or fish or egg whites with salad. I generally avoid rice and deep fried food. I try eating my dinner at least two hours before I sleep. I normally have five meals a day, which keeps me healthier and full.u00a0u00a0u00a0

Be positive

My happiness quotient is to think and stay positive. I feel mental fitness is more important than physical fitness. Meditation is important to keep a balance. I usually dedicate some time of the day meditating or just sitting in silence. It has helped increase my concentration and helps me think and plan better.

For me, happiness can be in the smallest of things, from a good cup of coffee to reading a good article to a good conversation. I'm happiest when I get to spend quality time with my family and friends. I also indulge in cricket and trekking so that I get to enjoy good company outdoors.
