The two are among the several B-town celebs who are asking their fans to help the Leh flood victims
More than a 1000 people visited the NGO's website immediately after the tweets, wanting to help.
Priyanka Chopra, who has spent a lot of time in Leh when she was younger, tweeted "Save the Children is in leh helping affected c:hildren and their families..pls donate now atu00a0www.savethechildren.in to support their efforts" and also announcedu00a0 that she and her family are trying to help the victims there. Deepika too tweeted a similar message, asking her followers to help out.
"Save The Children has been working in Ladakh for over 40 years but we have not seen a natural calamity of this magnitude," says Sharif Bhat, Save the Children programme manager, who is also from Ladakh. "The team in Ladakh is working in extremely difficult circumstances as they also have to cope with missing family members, colleagues and friends. The families of our colleagues are still taking refuge in the mountains or in the local mosque for fear of more flooding."
