Wondering where Ranbir Kapoor has got his Chaplinesque moves for his next film? From the iconic Broadway Chaplin Musical in New York

Ranbir Kapoor has been a fan of cinematic legend Charlie Chaplin ever since he was a young boy. Little did he know that one day he would be doing a film where he would be required to communicate in the same manner that Chaplin did in his silent era films.

Ranbir's grandfather Raj Kapoor's 1951 film Awaara had him essay a tramp which took references from Charlie Chaplin

When Anurag Basu offered him the role of Murphy in his next film with Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz, RK decided to take a trip to New York to watch a Broadway show titled Chaplin-The Musical to prep up for his role. In fact, even as a kid, Ranbir had seen the show several times.

Such was his passion that the actor remained in New York for a week, to be able to catch the same show seven days in a row. Ranbir states, "Yes, I flew down to New York for the show and it was an inspiration. However, we did not copy or try to replicate anything from the show in our film."
