Riya Sen alleges role in film cut to retain Neha's part
Riya Sen, who is part of
Paying Guest, called producer Subhash Ghai to complain about first- time director Paritosh Painter. Sen told Ghai that the director had chopped her part to favouru00a0
Neha Dhupia, who is also part of the project.
According to a source, "After hearing from people who saw the film, Riya learned that her role has been chopped considerably. Riya who has worked with Ghai in the past in Apna Sapna Money Money sent him a text message (see box) expressing her disappointment."
Bura mat sunoGhai immediately responded telling her not to listen to hearsay and that her role had not been chopped at all.
Paying Guest a comedy also stars Shreyas Talpade, Jaaved Jaaferi, Aashish Chaudhary, Neha Dhupia, and Celina Jaitly.
Riya says, "I can't dislike or like my role, as I haven't seen the film yet. Initially, I was offered the role opposite Aashish, which I refused because it was too old. They came back to me with a better one. So I've known the length and strength of the role from day one.
Raju Farooqui the executive producer called to tell me my track in the film has shaped up really well and Subhashji has presented me with a Blackberry Bold, as he's happy too.
We are family friends and I'm doing Noukadubi with them as well. Also I don't believe a director of Subhashji's calibre would be so impersonal forwarding around any of his messages from his actors."
What's wrong?Ghai however maintains, "What's wrong in expressing discontent if any actor feels this way. Riya has a right to ask and we have to explain as producers. She has been explained very nicely. We all are very happy about her work in Paying Guest, a comedy to be released in June."

Riya Sen's message: I have been in Kolkata for the last four months and I have heard from so many producers and others that my role in
Paying Guest has been badly chopped off. I don't understand why??

Subhash Ghai's reply: I understand your concern about your role but I need to tell you firstly, you signed this film knowing that you were part of a film, which is the story of four boys and their respective partners.

Obviously your role was short and not that of a lead. The reason we offered you this role is because you're an important part of Mukta Arts and you accepted it knowing all the details. Also, the editor had to fit all the eight beautiful characters in a span of two hrs.

If you see the film again you will realise that minimum of your footage has been cut... comparatively to the others.... Overhearing from other producers and reacting is worst thing an actor can do for herself and the maker. Basically these are jealous rivals....
