Actress Roshni Chopra loves to travel and this time her jaunt was a trip to San Francisco with husband Siddharth Kumar Anand"I went there on February 24 as my husband's film was selected at the Cinequest Film Festival and we were attending its world premiere," explains a happily tanned Roshni. Here are some of her travel highlights:
American beautyIt was my first time to the city and I have to say that it's the most beautiful city in the USA. The roads all slope up and down, the downtown area bustles with activity and the North beach has some of the cutest restaurants. One of my favourite travel destinations is New York for its sheer energy and London for its style. But San Francisco is now on my most unforgettable list.
Taking in artWe went to an art gallery at Union Square where they were actually selling the works of Picasso and Chagall! We also visited Stanford University, which has a beautiful campus and the Centre for Arts has an exhibition of the sculptures of Rodin. Among the other cultural things that we did was to catch a ballet performance. We saw the San Jose Ballet Company present Romeo and Juliet and we also managed to catch Cirque de Soleil's latest performance Ovo. It was an amazing experience.
Historic sights
We did some typical touristy things like visit the famous historic Alcatraz prison. A cab driver told us a beautiful story about the Golden Gate Bridge -- the bridge became significant because it was the last thing American soldiers saw before leaving for war.
Friendly faceThe scenic beauty of California is truly to die for. It's a paradise with beautiful beaches and sea animals around the pier. You can just walk around and watch the seagulls and sea lions in action or take a walk up to the very crooked and cute Lombard Street.
The nightlife too is great. The film festival had get togethers every day, so we pretty much got to see all the hot night spots.
But what caught my attention instantaneously was that the people in California are very friendly. We made a lot of friends on the trip. I will cherish my memories of all the beautiful places and people for a long time to come.
