Pandit Satish Vyas is not only passionate about playing music, but also promotes classical music. The Santoor maestro who is all set to perform in a concert tomorrow chats up with CS:

Concert craze
I feel that classical music concerts are a great platform for promoting Indian classical music amongst the general public. As of now, quite a few activities and concerts are being held in India. But they are not enough as they are held mainly in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, etc. I think we need to do lot of concerts in smaller and interior regions of India.

Fusion fun
Fusion music is extremely good for youngsters as it is attracting them towards classical music. It is creating listeners for classical music, which is a great thing. I don't think that classical music should just be restricted to older people. After all, music has no bar.

Fan following
Indian artists get a fantastic response from foreign audience at most events. If an Indian artist is performing at a local arts centre, we gets a lot of local audience along with NRIs. Also, the audience abroad is more disciplined and they look at our music as a form of meditation. u00a0
