Krishna Kapoor celebrated her 80th birthday at Dubai along with 20 family members and Amitabh Bachchan and his family.
Rima Jain (Kapoor), Krishna's daughter says, "It was a huge celebration at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Dubai consisting of family and old friends. All my three brothers (Rishi, Randhir and Rajiv) and my sister Ritu (Nanda) were there along with their children.

Mamma has become very frail now. We wanted to make it very special for mom so that's why we decided to celebrate it in Dubai. Also the food is terrific and the weather much better than India or any other place during this time. For mamma it was a double celebration as her birthday falls on January 1 so we bring in the New Year with her birthday."
Only her grandchildrenu00a0-- Kareena, Karisma and Ranbiru00a0-- and Krishna's bahu Babita wasn't present at the gala event spread over five days. "Lolo couldn't make it as she's expecting and she was with her family in Delhi while Ranbir and Kareena were busy with work.
I am sure mamma understood and wasn't disappointed that some of her grandchildren couldn't attend. Everyone spoke of their grandmother at the party. Amitji, Jaya and Amar Singh were also there. Natasha (Ritu Nanda) gave a wonderful book to mammau00a0-- a compilation of her old pictures with papa (Raj Kapoor) right from the time when they got married. Mamma was thrilledu00a0-- all her five children were with her after a long time! It was the grandest reunion ever."

While Raj Kapoor's family was celebrating Krishna's birthday in Dubai Boney, Anil, and Sanjay Kapoor brought in their brother-in-law Sandeep Marwah's birthday in Bangkok. Anil says, "The whole party was planned by my sister Reena for her husband's birthday. Sonam couldn't attend as she was shooting. It was a fabulous reunion of our entire family along with other family members and friends. I had flown down for just a day as I had to go to Singapore after that. It was a huge fun affair with almost 60 of us!" |
