From updos to natural wavy, from chestnut brown to burgundy red — forget dryness, frizz and unmanageable mane, and try these celebrity styles, with a little help, of course

Kristen Stewart, Eva Longoria and Scarlett Johansson

Henry De La Paz, who has styled celebrities for high profile events such as The Grammy's, Golden Globes, and The Oscars, along with the New York, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks, gives a lowdown on how to look your shining best, even in the dull and humid monsoon season:

The monsoon look
Natural is still in and is the keyword in hairstyling presently. Keeping it wavy and textured is what you should do. Also, high pony tails, bobs, blunt bobs, blunt bangs, braids, and high buns are hot this season. One style that I like a lot is a top-braided pony, rolled into a bun.

What's out?
Definitely, the 1980s bangs.

Favourite celebrity styles
I really like red carpet updos like the ones usually sported by Scarlett Johansson. They are easy-to-make and can look good on varied occasions. I also like Kristen Stewart's wavy hair, Eva Longoria's beautiful brown chestnut colour and Zooey Deschanel's bangs.

Do's and don'ts
>> If your hair is curly or thick and wavy, shower at night, put a little conditioner, and serum and then put a braid in. The braid will make the hair more wavy and beach-y when you wake up. Also, the products that you use will eliminate the frizz overnight.
>> If you have fine thin hair, the braid really works well with some mousse. Then when it dries and you take it out, it looks like you have styled it. Using a hydrating serum is essential.
>> For curly frizzy hair, keep the products toward the ends, don't put it on the scalp. Apply wherever you see there is a problem. Target the problem areas first.
>> Always carry a serum, and a hair spray when you leave the house.
>> As far as natural products go, coconut oil is the best. You can use it as a serum; it will help cut the frizz. You can mix it with the conditioner and make a curling cream out of it as well. It acts as a keratin. Using it twice a week is good.
>> Consume fish, nuts, coconut, avocados, fruits, and flax seeds because they keep the hair hydrated and protect it from becoming dry.
