Actor Aamir Khan took everyone by surprise after he introduced his girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, on his 60th birthday. The couple has been spotted at various occasions since then. They have now embarked on a new chapter in life as they have formalised their union. Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt got married at the actor's Mumbai residence in the presence of his close friends and family members.
Aamir, 61, and Gauri, 47, signed the marriage documents at around 12.45 pm, marking the beginning of a new chapter. A spokesperson for Aamir's team confirmed to SCREEN that the actor and Gauri are now officially married. The private ceremony was attended by family members, including Aamir's children from his previous marriages. Those present at the ceremony looked visibly happy. While Aamir opted for ivory ethnic wear, Gauri complemented him in a similarly coloured traditional attire.
Apart from family members, his longtime friend and Lagaan director Ashutosh Gowariker was also spotted making his way into Aamir's residence. Actor Elli AvrRam, Irfan Pathan, Raj Thackeray, and Vir Das were seen arriving for the intimate festivities as well.
On Saturday, the actor's Pali Hill home appeared to be abuzz with activity, as workers were spotted decorating the venue and making arrangements for what was expected to be an intimate family affair.
To note, Aamir confirmed his wedding a few days back at the screening of Rajkumar Hirani's Pritam and Pedro. He said to the media, "Haan, meri shaadi ho rahi hai. Bahut hi chhoti shaadi hai. Ghar pe hi kar rahe hain. Dono families hongi."
The wedding marks a new chapter in Aamir's personal life. The actor was first married to Reena Dutta in 1986, with whom he has two children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan. The couple parted ways in 2002.
He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. After 16 years of marriage, the two announced their separation in 2021. They continue to co-parent their son, Azad Rao Khan.
Aamir made his relationship with Gauri Spratt public during his 60th birthday celebrations in March last year, introducing her to the media. Since then, the couple has largely kept their relationship away from the spotlight.
