If you stay around Mumbai's Bandra-Khar area, then the sight of Rock On!! director Abhishek Kapoor pedalling on his red bicycle is a common one. He says opting for this mode of transport is his way of contributing to the environment.
Abhishek reveals that he has been biking for years. "It helps me keep fit and I don't add to the pollution levels in the city by burning fuel, by leaving my car at home.
I am not copying anyone (hint: Salman Khan). I cycle for myself and the city I live in and love. My office, my house and some of the producers' offices are also nearby so I prefer to pedal there, while my Honda Civic sits in the garage." He is presently riding a Firefox cycle, which he describes as "very cool."
Bike zindabad!
Kapoor continues, "Traffic is a major problem in the city and to even travel to Lokhandwala from Bandra it takes more than an hour.
To avoid this, more people should start biking. In many European countries, they have dedicated lanes for the cyclists and I think the authorities here in India should also makes these lanes and encourage people to bike around."
A FireFox bike price ranges from 5,000-30,000/-. The company has branches all over the country.
