Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar’s Golmaal 5 locks January 2027 for theatrical release

Fans of the Golmaal franchise have another reason to look forward to the fifth instalment. The much-awaited comedy, headlined by Ajay Devgn and featuring Akshay Kumar, is set to arrive in theatres in January 2027, according to the latest reports.

Directed by Rohit Shetty, Golmaal 5 marks the return of several familiar faces from the popular franchise. Ajay Devgn will reprise his role, while Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, Tusshar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi are also expected to be part of the ensemble. Akshay Kumar, meanwhile, is the new addition to the franchise and is set to share screen space with Devgn.

Golmaal 5 finally gets a release date

The film went on floors earlier this year, with the makers announcing the beginning of the shoot in February. A behind-the-scenes video featuring the returning cast had also created excitement among fans, particularly with Akshay joining the much-loved gang.

However, the film's release timeline has been a subject of speculation in recent months. In August, reports suggested that Golmaal 5 would hit theatres in December 2026. The makers subsequently dismissed those reports, calling them "false and baseless" and stating that the official release information would be shared through authorised announcements.

The latest update now points towards a January 2027 theatrical release. While the exact release date is yet to be officially confirmed by the makers, the film is expected to be among the major Bollywood releases around the start of next year.

Akshay Kumar plays villain

Apart from the core cast, the fifth instalment is expected to feature other franchise regulars, including Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra and Mukesh Tiwari. Priyamani has also reportedly joined the project in a negative role, adding a new dimension to the comedy caper.

The Golmaal franchise began in 2006 with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited and was followed by Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017). The fifth film arrives two decades after the franchise began and brings together Shetty and Devgn once again.

With Akshay's addition to the ensemble and the return of several franchise favourites, Golmaal 5 is expected to bring a new dose of chaos, comedy and camaraderie to the big screen. For now, fans will have to wait for the makers to officially lock the January 2027 date.
