Taapsee Pannu's high-flying stunts in Akshay Kumar-starrer Baby (2015) inspired the makers to come up with a spin-off, Naam Shabana, which explores the back-story of the actress' secret agent character.

Now, we hear filmmaker Neeraj Pandey plans to make films focussed on other pivotal characters played by Rana Daggubati, Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher and Danny Denzongpa.

A source close to the film's team says, "The original film featured a strong ensemble cast and there is a potential to explore the backstory of each of them. The makers have decided to explore that possibility."

At this point, however, it isn't clear which character's story will be told on the big screen next.

Kher, who played Shuklaji, tells mid-day, "It's an interesting idea. It would be exciting if the next spin-off on Baby is made on my character, which I feel has great potential. It'd be great to see the bonding between my character and Akshay's."

Naam Shabana will delve into how Taapsee, who had a 20-minute role in Baby, became a special agent and also throw light on one of her secret missions.
