Ameesha Patel celebrates maternal granny's b'day

Ameesha Patel celebrated her grandmother Sushila Patel Gokhale's 91st birthday (June 26) in Pune by hosting a lavish party for her.

A source says, "Ameesha adores her granny and always makes it a point to spend June 26 with her grandmother every year. This year, since her granny was crossing 90, the actress decided to make it a special celebration.

For one month, Ameesha planned the party with her close friend Usha Kakade, "Usha belongs to one of Pune's biggest builder families and she arranged for the caterers and helped Ameesha plan the party right down to the menu and the flower arrangements. While Ameesha was in Mumbai completing her work commitments, Usha made sure everything was readied for the big day.

Ameesha even had a professional photographer capture the party. When Sushila was wheeled in to cut her cake and meet her guests, she had tears in her eyes." It was a crowd of 30 with Ameesha's friends from Mumbai, her granny's friends and relatives with their children and her doctors.

The 5 kg fresh fruit sponge cake was specially ordered in the shape of 91. The source adds, "The menu was varied sea food, different types of fish, kaali dal, butter chicken, paneer masala, appams and kulfis for dessert. Sushila loves flowers, so the rooms were decorated with her favourite flowers like roses, lilies, marigolds, orchids, chrysanthemums and birds of paradise."

Much to her naani's disappointment, the actress had to return to Mumbai for her dance rehearsals but is going back today to spend some time with her." Ameesha says, "I don't shoot or work during my grandmother's birthday. I feel everything will come again but for me to spend time with my naani is a blessing and miracle for me."
