Rumours about Ranveer Singh starring in a film adaptation of The Immortals of Meluha recently created massive buzz online, but author Amish Tripathi has now officially denied the reports. Speculation had claimed that the actor had acquired the rights to the popular mythological novel and was planning to headline a grand cinematic trilogy based on the bestselling Shiva Trilogy books.

Amish Tripathi reacts to speculations

The rumours gained attention after several reports suggested that Ranveer would portray Lord Shiva in the adaptation and that the ambitious project would eventually go on floors in the coming years. Fans of both the actor and the book series quickly flooded social media with excitement, with many calling the casting choice "perfect" for the powerful character.

However, Amish Tripathi clarified that the reports were incorrect and confirmed that the rights to the Shiva Trilogy are still with him. Addressing the speculation, the author stated that no agreement has been signed with anyone regarding the adaptation. While dismissing the rumours, he also praised Ranveer Singh and said he has immense respect for the actor.

Ranveer singh not a part of the trilogy

The author's statement quickly went viral online, especially because discussions around adapting The Immortals of Meluha have been ongoing for years. The novel, first published in 2010, became a massive success and introduced readers to a reimagined version of Lord Shiva as a tribal leader who later transforms into the legendary Neelkanth.

Interestingly, this is not the first time the book has attracted filmmakers. Over the years, several attempts have reportedly been made to adapt the novel for the big screen and streaming platforms. Filmmakers including Karan Johar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali were earlier linked to projects based on the Shiva Trilogy, but none materialised.

Despite Amish Tripathi's clarification, the rumours continued to dominate social media conversations throughout the day. Many fans on Reddit and other platforms admitted they would still love to see Ranveer Singh play Shiva someday, with several users calling him an ideal fit for the intense and larger-than-life role.

Who will be a part of the trilogy is yet to be revealed. It will be interesting to see who will get selected for the role.
