Awarapan 2 has struck gold at the box office. The Emraan Hashmi-led sequel has delivered a strong opening weekend, collecting Rs 84.31 crore net in India and an estimated Rs 120.86 crore worldwide, according to the makers. The film, which arrived in cinemas on August 14, has emerged as one of the biggest theatrical performers of 2026 so far. Its worldwide numbers have made the film a global hit, with the sequel finding an audience across domestic and international markets.

Awarapan 2 scores big at the box office

The film opened with Rs 23.40 crore on August 15 before witnessing a substantial jump on its second day. Day 2 brought in Rs 34.09 crore, while the film added another Rs 26.82 crore on Day 3.

That takes its three-day India total to Rs 84.31 crore. The film's estimated overseas collection stands at USD 1.9 million, or approximately Rs 18 crore, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 120.86 crore.

Awarapan 2 has recorded the third-highest opening weekend of 2026, while its Independence Day weekend performance has been described as the fourth-highest of the last decade, spanning 2015 to 2025.

For Emraan Hashmi, the response marks a notable return to the big screen in a character that already carries considerable nostalgia. The actor reprises his role as Shivam Pandit, with the sequel attempting to continue the legacy of the 2007 original.

Emraan Hashmi wins fans

The first Awarapan, which also starred Shriya Saran, developed a loyal following over the years despite its modest theatrical performance. With Awarapan 2, the makers have managed to turn that nostalgia into significant box-office momentum.

The sequel is directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui and Vishesh Bhatt. Alongside Hashmi, the cast includes Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Puran Gabbi, Suvinder Vicky and Aniruddh Rawal.

Presented by Mukesh Bhatt and Vishesh Films, the film is produced by Vishesh Bhatt, with Deepesh Shah and Sunaman Sood serving as co-producers.

With Rs 84 crore-plus already in the bag domestically, Awarapan 2 now has the crucial weekdays ahead. If the film maintains its momentum, its opening weekend could prove to be just the beginning of a much bigger box-office run.
