While Awarapan 2 continues to draw audiences to theatres, one screening in Ghaziabad reportedly turned into an uncomfortable ordeal after a moviegoer alleged that the auditorium's air conditioning stopped functioning properly. According to the complaint shared on Instagram, the incident took place on August 15 at Pacific Mall, Ghaziabad. The moviegoer also shared a video from inside the auditorium, claiming that the hall had become extremely humid and stuffy.
In the Instagram post, the complainant accused MovieMax Cinemas of failing to address the issue despite repeated complaints to the on-site management.
"moviemax.cinemas turned our movie night into an unventilated nightmare," the moviegoer alleged, claiming that the AC was "barely running" and the conditions became so uncomfortable that they felt they "couldn't even breathe properly."
The complainant further alleged that they approached the theatre staff soon after noticing the problem. However, according to their account, the issue was not resolved. The moviegoer claimed management allegedly offered multiple explanations but failed to provide a solution. Eventually, the group decided to leave the screening before the interval.
Describing the experience as a "severe failure in basic facilities", the complainant also alleged that the conditions affected their health and called the experience "deficient service" and a "complete disregard for customer comfort". The allegations have been shared publicly by the moviegoer; no response from the cinema management was included in the complaint. At another place, there was a fight at the screening after a couple gave spoilers while making out.
The theatre complaint comes as Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, continues its theatrical run. According to Sacnilk figures, the film recorded an estimated Rs 33.75 crore net in India on Day 2, August 15, across 10,496 shows. That represented a reported 53.4 per cent jump over its Rs 22 crore opening-day collection, taking its India net total to approximately Rs 55.75 crore.
The sequel follows Emraan's 2007 film Awarapan, which also starred Shriya Saran. While the original developed a strong following over the years despite its modest theatrical performance, Awarapan 2 has received mixed reactions, with some viewers questioning the need for a sequel while praising Hashmi's performance.
The new film also features Shabana Azmi and Suvinder Vicky, adding to its ensemble cast. Meanwhile, Hashmi and Patani's film continues to generate conversation both for its box-office performance and audience reactions inside and outside theatres. Emraan Hashmi has also hinted at a third film amid the sequel's success.
