Anu Malik on Border 2
Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan's Border 2 is one of the anticipated films of 2026. The makers recently dropped the teaser of the song Ghar Kab Aaoge, after which Anu Malik demanded credit for the music in one of his interviews. Amid reports claiming that the celebrated music composer did not receive the credits, Anu Malik, in a statement, clarified that he has received proper credits for the song - something which he is proud of.
In a fresh statement, which was also shared on Instagram Story, Anu clarified, "I would like to clarify about the song Ghar Kab Aaoge that Bhushan ji has already credited me with immense warmth and respect. This is a unique collaboration that I am genuinely proud of, and I have also shared my thoughts publicly across my social media platforms. Any reports suggesting otherwise are based on incorrect reporting. I stand by this collaboration with pride and gratitude."
Malik, in an interview with PTI, reacted to Sandese Aate Hai's recreation. He said, "I believe the song is recreated. I'm not a part of it. I'm sure they will give my name to it as I've created the song. They should, because people know about our contribution - they can't get away. They can't make Border 2 without Sandese Aate Hai. Both Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar are up there (in their contribution), so they will have to put our name somewhere."
Ghar Kab Aaoge, the version of Sandese Aate Hai that will feature in Border 2, was originally composed by Malik and is now reimagined by Mithoon. The teaser indicates that the song focuses on emotions associated with soldiers and their families waiting for them to return home. The full version of the song will be released on January 2, 2026, at a special event in Longewala-Tanot, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh. The film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa and Anya Singh. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, in association with JP Dutta's JP Films. It is set to release in theatres on January 23, 2026.
