Actress Preity Zinta has voiced her concern over the ongoing student protests in Delhi and has put forth her views in a strong post on her social media account. However, she found herself at the centre of social media criticism after sharing her views. Several users accused her of echoing a political narrative. The actress hit back with sharp responses, making it clear that she writes her own "script" and isn't influenced by anyone.

About Preity Zinta's note

Sharing a note on X (formerly Twitter), the actress stressed the need to protect the original intent of the protests and also called for constructive dialogue between all stakeholders. She wrote, "While it's important to support our students and ask for educational reforms that positively impact the future of our youth, it's also very important that peaceful protests by students are not hijacked by anti-national elements to create chaos and change the nature of the protest."

Preity further expressed her concern over whether anti-national elements had been ‘working overtime' to create unrest in the country by using students. "Seeing so much hate and divide online makes me wonder if bad elements in and outside our country have already started to work overtime to weaponise the anger and frustration felt by our students," she said.

The actress also stated that she believes in democracy, law, and government, further appealing for constructive dialogue.

She added, "I have always believed in hard work, equality and excellence, and that should never be compromised. I also believe in our democracy, law and order, and our government. Therefore, I sincerely hope that both sides enter into meaningful and constructive dialogue and weed out any nefarious elements and agendas from this protest and conversation, so the future is bright for our youth and for our democracy! Jai Hind!"

As she shared the post, a comment read, "Got the script from the Bee Jay Pee?" She replied, "No! I write my own script and would have been humoured by your comment, but you cannot even spell right, so aap toh rehne hi do."

Another user wrote, "Script mil gaya hai." To which she replied, "Script film mein milta hai… real life mein nahi! Just FYI."

A user also wrote, "Do you have proof of any outside India element intervention, or are you just reading the script given by the people of BJP? Hope you can open your eyes and see what's happening in real."

On the work front, the actress will next be seen in Batwara 1947 with Sunny Deol and Shabana Azmi. The film marks her comeback to Hindi cinema.
