Daler Mehndi's son Gurdeep Mehndi has opened up about the singer's health as controversy continues over his performance at a Navratri event in Uttarakhand. While Gurdeep refrained from commenting on the row, he assured fans that his father is doing okay.
While speaking to IANS, Gurdeep addressed ongoing concerns about his father's health and said, "He is first class, fantastic, super hit, and best of luck."
Comedian Sudesh Lehri has recently joined the growing list of celebrities who supported Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi following his controversial on-stage confrontation with Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal. Recalling his 30-year association with the singer, Sudesh defended his professionalism and said he had never seen him consume alcohol. He also criticised the treatment of singer Daler Mehndi at a cultural event in Uttarakhand, where Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal interrupted his performance and accused him of being intoxicated.
In a video message, Sudesh said, "I know him personally for 30 years. We have learned so much from him about the stage. How to respect the stage, how to go on stage, how to live, how to show, how to be professional." Addressing the drunk allegations against Daler, Sudesh said, "I have never seen him drinking until today. Nor has anyone said that he is intoxicated; he drinks. I have never seen," he said.
The comedian also questioned why the matter was discussed publicly when it could have been addressed backstage. "I say, even if you want to talk to an artist, you can easily talk behind the stage. There can be some other way. But talking to an artist on stage in this way is very wrong," Sudesh added.
He ended his message by assuring Daler of his support and wishing him good health.
Several celebrities, including Mika Singh, Palash Sen and Kapil Sharma, have also come out in support of Daler Mehndi amid the controversy surrounding his performance in Uttarakhand. It all started when state minister Subodh Uniyal allegedly accused the veteran singer of being under the influence of alcohol at the live cultural performance. He also criticised him for delivering a poor performance despite charging a substantial fee. He also questioned whether Daler was lip-syncing instead of singing live.
