It should be mentioned that Dhurandhar has outperformed expectations by earning more than Rs 20 crore at the box office on its opening day.

Dhurandhar's performance is also being eagerly scrutinised because it marks Ranveer's return to a single commercial picture. His earlier hits established an ambitious standard. Padmaavat premiered at 19 crore and grossed a whopping 585 crore worldwide. Simmba started at 20.72 crore and ended with 390 crore globally. Dhurandhar has now exceeded Ahaan Panday's Saiyaara, which grossed Rs 21 crore on its opening day. However, Vicky Kaushal's Chaava remains the year's highest opener, grossing Rs 31 crore.

All about Dhurandhar's upcoming sequel

Dhurandhar follows Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, played by R. Madhavan, as he conducts a high-risk mission to dismantle a terror network in Pakistan. Ranveer Singh stars as a 20-year-old Punjabi youngster recruited from prison and taught to penetrate Karachi's criminal underworld. The film was shot in Thailand, Mumbai, Punjab, and Ladakh between July 2024 and October 2025, and has a duration of 214 minutes, making it one of India's longest theatrical releases of the year.

Furthermore, it has been reported that Dhurandhar 2 will be released on March 19, 2026, competing with Yash's impending action flick Toxic in the box office. It will be interesting to witness the clash between two massive films.
