Delhi CM Rekha Gupta announces tax-free status to Farhan Akhtar's 120 Bahadur

Farhan Akhtar`s war drama 120 Bahadur, which pays tribute to the Charlie Company of the Kumaon Regiment, has been declared tax-free in Delhi by the Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta. The tax exemption is expected to boost the footfall, encouraging movie buffs of all ages to witness the heroic retelling of the Battle of Rezang La on the big screen

Farhan Akhtar's latest war drama 120 Bahadur, which pays tribute to the bravehearts of the Charlie Company of the Kumaon Regiment, has been receiving a lot of acclaim. And now, the film has been declared tax-free in the national capital by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, as a mark of respect for the valiant soldiers.

120 Bahadur gets tax-free status in Delhi

The CM took to her official X (previously known as Twitter) handle to congratulate the makers for a film that highlights the inspiring leadership of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati (played by Farhan Akhtar). She wrote, "#120Bahadur, a historical war film, pays tribute to the extraordinary courage, leadership, and sacrifice of the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought valiantly in the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Sino-Indian War. The film highlights the inspiring leadership of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, whose actions and sacrifice remain a defining symbol of courage in India's military history. (sic)."

She further added, "As a special mark of respect to the valiant soldiers, the Delhi Government has decided to grant tax-free status to the film in Delhi from 28th Nov. Congratulations to the creators of the film!"

The tax exemption is expected to increase the footfall, inspiring movie buffs of all ages to witness the heroic retelling of the Battle of Rezang La on the big screen.

Akhilesh Yadav praised Farhan Akhtar for 120 Bahadur

This comes amid protagonist Farhan Akhtar receiving a lot of praise for his portrayal of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati in the drama. Earlier, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who watched the film, was seen praising it, calling it a must-watch.

After watching the film, Akhliesh spoke to the media and said, "This film (120 Bahadur) reminds our younger generations, and especially our soldiers, of the glorious history of our armed forces, a history we take great pride in. The Indian Army is among the bravest in the world, defending our borders in the most difficult and challenging conditions. The information shared about the Rezang La battle and the war of that period highlights a true story, a real battle fought with extraordinary courage. Captain Ramchander Yadav and many other brave soldiers showed exemplary valour...It is a film everyone should watch..."

120 Bahadur revolves around the extraordinary courage of 120 Indian soldiers from the 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought in the legendary Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 war. At its heart, one unwavering line echoes through the film: "Hum Peechhe Nahin Hatenge."

Made under the direction of Razneesh ‘Razy' Ghai, and backed by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, and Amit Chandrra, 120 Bahadur released in the cinema halls on November 21.
